Emily Wright

I'm a UKCP & BACP registered psychotherapist, with an MSc in Gestalt Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the Metanoia Institute in London. I have particular interests in anxiety and relationships, career burnout, fertility, motherhood, and the psychological impact of life transitions. My style is warm, curious, and down-to-earth, focusing on the genuine relationship between therapist and client.

What I'm like to work with

I believe the relationship between you and your therapist really matters. You need to feel comfortable enough to be yourself, not a polished version of yourself or the version you think you should be.

My style is warm, curious and down-to-earth. I won't sit silently and expect you to do all the work. I'll listen carefully, ask questions, share what I'm noticing and sometimes gently challenge you.

Therapy can involve difficult and serious conversations, but that doesn't mean every moment has to feel heavy. There can be humour and lightness too.

How I work

My approach is Gestalt psychotherapy. I'm interested in what's happening in your life now, as well as how past experiences might be influencing the way you feel, relate and respond today.

Together, we can explore patterns in your relationships, the expectations you place on yourself and ways you've learnt to cope that may no longer be working for you.

You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about or why you feel the way you do. You can simply turn up as you are, and we'll start there.
